WWE is likely to have more than 50 male and female participants with collegiate athletic backgrounds across football, basketball, wrestling, volleyball, track & field, gymnastics, cheer, and dance. Several college football players eligible for the NFL draft are scheduled to participate in the invite-only event set for the Wrestlemania 38 weekend.

The athletes will have to go through performance evaluations, individual and group promo evaluations, in-ring technical sessions, and sit-down interviews as a part of the WWE tryout process. The selected names will be asked to report to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida in due course.

It should be noted that WWE launched its official NIL program in December 2021 so that collegiate athletics with wrestling abilities can directly come to WWE. They have now announced that the second NIL class will be unveiled in the coming months, and athletes from the WrestleMania 38 Week tryouts may be considered to go into the second class.

The inaugural class featured 15 athletes from 13 universities, 7 NCAA conferences, and 4 sports. Among these athletes, RAW Superstar and Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson has also been signed to WWE’s first-of-its-kind NIL program who is also rumored to compete in a match at Wrestlemania 38.

WWE’s Executive Vice President of Global Talent Strategy & Development Paul “Triple H” Levesque was heavily involved in this NIL program of the WWE but currently, he’s been absent from WWE programming as well as his backstage duties. It’s almost certain that the legendary name won’t be available in any capacity at Wrestlemania 38.
