The special guest referee for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Title match at SummerSlam 2022 was revealed on Friday Night SmackDown. It will be WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett who will also be returning to live WWE TV after a hiatus of more than two years.
The big announcement for Summerslam 2022 came after Angelo Dawkins secured a controversial pinfall victory over Jimmy Uso in the main event of the July 15 episode of Smackdown. The finish was similar to the ending of the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship match between The Usos and the Street Profits at the Money in the Bank event, earlier this month.

The Usos successfully retained their titles on that night but the replays after the match showed that one of Montez Ford’s shoulders was up during the referee’s three-count. The same thing happened, last night when Jey was pinned as the referee never noticed that his shoulders were up.
Once the match ended, WWE Official Adam Pearce came out and announced that Jeff Jarrett will be the special official appointed for The Usos and Street Profits at SummerSlam 2022. Jarrett never appeared live on Smackdown rather he was presented through a pre-recorded video.
Summerslam 2022: Two Mainstream Athletes Coming To WWE Tryouts
The Usos unified the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Championships when they defeated then-Raw tag champs Team RK-Bro on the May 20 episode of SmackDown. They originally won the blue brand tag titles from Rey and Dominik Mysterio on the Money in the Bank Kickoff Show on July 18, 2021. With Summerslam 2022 approaching, Usos are nearing the one-year landmark as tag champs.
