The Judgment Day members had a shaky start to this week’s WWE Raw after the male members digested a defeat at the hands of The Street Profits. But ultimately, momentums were back in their favor as the only female member of the faction managed to defeat a male superstar who used to be a former champion.
In big news from last night’s WWE Raw Rhea Ripley defeated Akira Tozawa in the first-ever intergender match of her WWE. The match that took place in Des Moines, Iowa saw the former Women’s Champion dominating the former Cruiserweight Champion in a singles contest. Tozawa somehow managed to fire back and tried to leap off the top rope with a senton by Ripley moved away.

After Tozawa took a bad bump in the ring, Ripley planted her with the Riptide to secure the big win in the match that was set up after Tozawa threw the drink from his solo cup in Dominik Mysterio’s face. Ripley was seemingly angry as she proceeded to strike Tozawa with a stiff punch before challenging him to an impromptu match on WWE Raw, right there.
Intergender match history on WWE Raw/Smackdown
Prior to this match, WWE’s first televised intergender match took place on the May 31 episode of WWE Raw, last year when SCRPTYS (fka Reginald) competed against Shayna Baszler. Just a week prior, he was also defeated by the former WWE 24/7 Champion defeated Tamina.
In early 2021, WWE also conducted the infamous Alexa Bliss vs. Randy Orton matchup at Fastlane that saw a new version of The Fiend Bray Wyatt. Reginald vs. Sasha Banks was also an intergender match that took place on Smackdown in 2021. Before that in 2017, James Ellsworth was involved in a feud with WWE’s female roster, producing several intergender matches, most notably the one against Becky Lynch on the November 7 episode of Smackdown.

Ripley, perhaps the most destructive force of the WWE Raw Women’s Division, has urged the company to book him in intergender matches on television, especially after body-slamming Luke Gallows, a few weeks ago. This is what she had to say in a recent interview with Cultaholic about her pledge,
“To see whether that [intergender matches] happens or not is a different story as I know it’s a bit of a touchy subject with the networks and all of that. I’m not too sure what’s going to happen, but if it does I hope that I’m the person for it.”
