Team India all-rounder Axar Patel was involved in fun banter with Ravindra Jadeja following India’s six-wicket win over Australia in the Delhi Test. India took a lead 2-0 in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy. Ravindra Jadeja was the star performer for India in the 2nd innings picking up 7 wickets and helping the host to retain Border Gavaskar Trophy.

Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja were two of the best performers for India in the second match in Delhi. After the end of the match, Axar Patel was seen interviewing the all-rounder on Bcci. Tv.

Sir, meri to bowling aa nahi rahi hai. Axar ko bowling nahi dena hai isliye aisa ball dal rahe ho kya? (Sir, are you bowling like this so that Axar doesn’t get a chance to bowl?),”  Axar joked during the interview for BCCI.

The question left both players in splits, and then on a serious note Ravindra Jadeja said that he planned to bowl to stumps as the Australian batters were trying to sweep the ball on both sides.

“They [the Australians] prefer playing the sweep and reverse sweep. My effort was to bowl stump to stump. If they miss and the ball stays low, then the ball is bound to hit the stumps. That’s what happened today when five balls hit the stumps,” Jadeja said.

Jadeja is the top wicket-taker of the Test series with 17 wickets in 2 matches while R Ashwin is not far behind with 14 wickets. On the other hand, Axar Patel was not getting enough chances to bowl and picked up just 1 wicket in the 2 Test Matches so far.

Axar Patel Praised Ricky Ponting For His Batting Success

Axar Patel was India’s most successful batter in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy. He played exceptionally well in the 1st innings of the second test. Axar credited Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting for his success as a batter.

“At Delhi Capitals, I spoke a lot with Ricky about how I can get better with my batting. Even in the Indian team, I was talking to the batters. I felt I was not realising my potential in my 30s and 40s. I was not able to finish the game,” he said

Axar Patel shined with the bat in India’s first innings as he top-scored with 74 runs and shared a century stand with R Ashwin for the 8th wicket to propel India to 262 in the second test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
