India is leading the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) by 2-0 against Australia, Men in Blue needs to win three test matches in the four test match series to qualify for the World Test Championship (WTC) final. Shreyas Iyer replaced Suryakumar Yadav (SKY) in the second test match at Delhi, Iyer was ruled out of the first game due to a back injury.

Iyer mentioned that extra hours at the gym can be the cause of his injury –
“Back injury has disappeared completely and I am happy. I feel that the rate with which I worked in the gym, and the practice sessions and everything that I was doing for the last 3-4 months caused it. I was managing to play with it for a while, because of which it aggravated. I was running and stuff in the gym, so I was probably doing exercises in the gym which I did not have to do,” said the right-handed batter.
The 28-year-old returned to the playing XI at the Delhi test match, replacing SKY in the process, Surya scored 8 runs in the one innings he played at the Nagpur test match and was bowled by Nathan Lyon.

“We had a few practice sessions at home, we have to ensure that we maintain the fitness level. I was also busy with a few shoots, but that is secondary, this is of paramount importance for us. It was a tremendous break to rejuvenate and come back fresh,” he further added.
The Mumbai-born cricketer made his debut for India in test matches in December 2021, in the seven-long format of the game Shreyas played for team India, he scored 624 runs including a ton for his side.
Earlier, India opted to bat first against Steve Smith-led side at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. The home side made two changes in the third game of BGT, Shubman Gill and Umesh Yadav replace KL Rahul and Mohammed Shami, while in the Baggy Greens playing XI, Mitchell Starc and Cameoon Green come in the place of Pat Cummins and Matt Renshaw. In the meantime, Men in blue were bowled out for 109 runs in the first innings.
