Former Australian player considers Green as the world’s best all-rounder-

I’ve said for a number of years now that provided he keeps himself fit, he’ll be the world’s best allrounder by a long way. I’ve got absolutely no doubt about that,” Hughes, who has tracked Green’s career ever since he was a teenager,” Hughes said.

Australia’s star all-rounder scored his maiden Test ton to put Australia in the driver’s seat in the ongoing game. The highly-rated youngster become the youngest Australian to score a Test ton in India since Michael Clarke’s 151 on debut in 2004.

His bowling action is so easy. And I don’t mean a one-day allrounder. There are lots of blokes that can bat a bit and bowl a bit. But he will be good enough to bat in any side in the world. If he was just a batter he could bat at four and if he was just a bowler he could open the bowling,” he further added.

The 69 years old Hughes is a former Australian cricketer. He captained Australia in 28 Test matches between 1979 and 1984, during his leadership the ‘Baggy Greens’ only won four matches, and the right-handed batter’s career ended after a disastrous West Indies tour in 1984, where the visitors lost by 3-0 in the five test match series.

I’ve taught him the basics and he’s got lovely balance. Because of so much white-ball cricket, most people, even in Test cricket, if you watch them side on, their first move is this half-step forward. Well, you’re bugging. You can’t play off the back foot,” the former Australian skipper concluded.

Green’s 114 runs, along with Usman Khawaja’s 180 mark, they together shared a 208-run stand to help Australia pile up a huge total of 480 runs in their first innings.

He picks things up very, very quickly. But the other thing I like about him particularly is that he’s a very humble person. Very respectful. He was a very good listener. And it’s been great to see him carry on and take things in his stride,” Hughes told Sydney Morning Herald.

Rohit Sharma-led side needs to win the test match at Ahmedabad to assure their place in World Test Championship (WTC) Final, Meanwhile, Australia has already qualified for the WTC Final in England after avoiding the clean sweep in the four test match series, the Steve Smith-led side won the last test match at Delhi by nine wickets.

At Stumps on Day 3, India 289/3, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja are on the crease with 59 and 16 runs respectively.
