The host nation could well see Steve Smith leading the team. Australians have always followed split captaincy, thus, Smith would come into the frame of things if Australia looks for a new skipper in the shorter version of the game.
He was actually expected to lead in the ODI format but the ban because of ball-tampering saw the wrong side of him. Meanwhile, Aaron Finch was given the captaincy but he failed to defend the championship, as he lost it in the semifinals against eventual winners, England.
With a lot of experience in leading the teams across the globe in franchise cricket, Steve Smith has got a lot of tricks under his belt, which would see Australia making him the skipper again.
