The explosive batsman is one of the few Sri Lankan cricketers, who got the fans across the globe. He is the star in his country and always thrived for the betterment of Sri Lankan Cricket.
Jayasuriya was appointed as the Member of Parliament from Matara district for one complete term. The former southpaw batsman served as the Deputy Union Minister of postal services and later as the Deputy Union Minister of Local Government and Rural Development under the president.
