Hitting fifty plus scores is tough and especially doing it consistently in a World Cup match. But there are some people who do it effortlessly and score runs at ease.

Here are players to have score more than fifty in World Cup Matches.

3. Herschelle Gibbs (South Africa), Jacques Kallis (South Africa) and Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka) – 10

These three share the same rank in the 10 or more 50+ scores in World Cup matches. Herschelle Gibbs, who once owned up, with perverse pride, to never having read a book, has essayed enough incendiary innings to fill a fat volume and, in the field, cut down many a batsman with all the electric grace of an enraged poet. He has scored 58 fifty plus scores in ODI. Jacques Kallis is the broad-shouldered colossus of the South African team, a figure whose looming presence inspires calm in others. Few players who belong to the modern age are a better fit for the notion of the classical cricketer. Kallis is a fine, forceful batsman who has at his disposal both a rock-solid technique and a mind impervious to distraction. He has scored 103 fifty plues scores in ODI. Kumar Sangakkara, a left-handed top-order batsman, for much of his career he also played as a wicket-keeper, although he no longer keeps wicket at Test level. As of February 2015, he is the second-highest run-scorer in ODI matches and the fifth-highest run scorer in Test matches. Sangakkara was a key member of the team that won the 2014 ICC World Twenty20 and was part of the team that made the final of the 2007 Cricket World Cup, 2011 Cricket World Cup, 2009 ICC World Twenty20 and 2012 ICC World Twenty20. He won man of the match award in the final 2014 ICC World Twenty20, where he helped the team win their first title. He has scored 116 fifty plus scores in ODI.

2. Ricky Ponting (India) – 11

Ricky Ponting, the most uncompromising player of his generation, grew into Australia’s most successful run-maker is widely regarded as country’s best batsman. It takes an extremely critical eye to diminish his run-scoring achievements, which seem to collect new records in every series. Like spotting a celebrity, it’s necessary to look twice when analysing Ponting, first as the archetypal modern batsman, then as the country’s 42nd Test captain. There is no doubt about his greatness after taking guard, but his leadership has been under scrutiny for much of his reign. He is one of the most successful captain in the World Cups. Under his captaincy Australia has won 2 World Cups. He has scored 11 fifty plues scores in World Cups and 112 fifty plues scores in total ODI.

1. Sachin Tendulkar (India) – 21

Sachin Tendulkar has been the most complete batsman of his time, the most prolific runmaker of all time, and arguably the biggest cricket icon the game has ever known. His batting was based on the purest principles: perfect balance, economy of movement, precision in stroke-making, and that intangible quality given only to geniuses – anticipation. He has had almost every records to his name. He has played the most number of World Cups. He has brought lots of victories in the World Cups for India. In total has scored 21 plus runs in World Cups. And in ODI he has scored 145 fifty plus scores.
