The Kohli-Kumble saga is going from bad to worse as according to a report in Mid-day, the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) met as many as ten players during the Champions Trophy to know their view of coach Anil Kumble and reportedly, all the ten players refused the re-appointment of Kumble in the post,

If it’s true, then it will be wrong to blame Virat Kohli for Kumble stepping down from the post but we are yet to know about Kohli’s viewpoint, hence, concluding anything on basis of just reports may be a wrong thing to do.

However, reports further added that Kumble had unrealistic expectations from the players, which irked them and thus, all the players which CAC met objected his re-appointment and as soon as Champions Trophy concluded, Kumble stepped down from the post.

Meanwhile, the Indian team has landed in West Indies for the limited overs series sans a Head Coach. Sanjay Bangar and R Sridhar will continue to perform their respective duties though. The apex Board has also invited some more applications for the Head Coach job as earlier, they only received six applications due to the presence of Kumble at the helm but with the former Indian skipper giving up the role, the gates are open and now we might see many applications flowing to take up the post.

Virender Sehwag is the favourite among all present in the league as Indian skipper Virat Kohli himself asked the former aggressive batsman to apply for the job, hence, Sehwag will the front runner. Though BCCI has denied the intervention of Kohli while deciding the Head Coach but it will be interesting to watch whether the board can sideline captain’s view.
