28 runs required off 12 balls on a wicket which has a nice advantage for the bowlers and with the likes of Trent Boult and Daniel Christian in the bowling department, none would have expected they would be on the wrong side. But, it was a game of cricket which has a chameleon sort of nature.

Catches win matches but can’t complain: Iyer

The young skipper feels that they had been on top of the game throughout but the momentum changed dramatically thus being on the wrong side of the things. Shreyas Iyer furtherly added that taking catches would have helped the cause but he didn’t want to complain about it.

”Very disappointing to be honest. At a certain point, we were really in the game, on top but the momentum changed completely. It was a really good total to get on the board, even though we got a good start, we didn’t capitalize later on, but 10 runs extra would have been nice,” he said.

”Catches win matches and we have been practising really hard on our fielding, but when the nerves are really high, it happens and is part of the game; can’t really complain,” Shreyas Iyer added while speaking in the post-match presentation.

Mishra bowled really well: Shreyas

After the conclusion of the match, one would have felt that Delhi Daredevils were short of a spinner but Shreyas Iyer felt that it was a perfect decision to go with a fast bowler but Avesh Khan didn’t take the opportunity. He added that Amit Mishra bowled superbly to get back the team into the game.

”It was really hard surface and I knew it wasn’t going to turn, I was banking on my seamer Avesh Khan but he didn’t turn up that great. It was the perfect decision (to play only one spinner) on this wicket with the ball not turning that much, Mishra bowled really well and got two crucial wickets for us. It was a good chase from them,” Shreyas Iyer concluded.

All in all, Delhi Daredevils are out of the tournament but it might help them to try all their remaining sources in their squad to know their abilities. They are currently placed 7th in the points table with 3 wins out of 10 games. They will play all their remaining fixtures at home and can be the spoilers of other teams’ party.
