Herschelle Gibbs was an excellent batsman of South Africa in 90 test matches and 248 One day international matches. He played for South Africa in 1996, 1999, 2003 and 2007 World Cups. He also played in the Indian premier league in 2008 for the Deccan Chargers. Gibbs was involved in the match-fixing scandal with former captain Hansie Cronje who offered him $ 15,000 to score less than 20 runs in the 3rd ODI of a series. He met the Indian police over the match-fixing scandal. As a result, he was banned for six months.
