13-Year-Old Bowls Perfect Over, Takes Six Wickets in Six Balls 1

Taking wickets is always a nice feeling for any bowler and so one can just imagine how special it will be for someone if he manages to take wickets on all the six balls of an over. A 13-year-old schoolboy cricketer in England has achieved this incredible feat and what is even more astonishing is that all the dismissals were clean bowled.

Luke Robinson produced the stunning match-winning spell this week for Philadelphia Cricket Club’s Under-13s, based near Houghton-le-Spring, Tyne and Wear in north-east England. The teenager’s family was also present in the ground when he bowled the sensational over and with his father Stephen having the best view of the lot, as he was umpiring at the bowler’s end at the time.

On the other hand, Robson’s mother Helen was the first person to record the feat, as she was scoring the match, while the budding cricketer’s younger brother Matthew was fielding and grandfather Glenn was watching it from the boundary.

“It was surreal,” said Stephen Robinson, who plays for the senior side. “I have been playing for 30 years and have taken hat-tricks but never anything like this. Time stood still and I thought, ‘Is this really happening?”

Earlier this year at a local game in Australia, a 29-year-old Aled Carey took six wickets in an over while playing for Golden Point Cricket Club in the Ballarat Cricket Association fourth-team fixture match.

Meanwhile, no bowler has ever taken six wickets in an over in international cricket. The maximum wickets taken by a bowler in a single over in a Test match is four. Six bowlers have achieved the feat of which five are Englishmen. Wasim Akram had managed the feat against West Indies in Lahore in 1990.
