In a stunning feat during a local T20 game, 15-year-old left-arm medium pacer from Rajasthan Akash Choudhary took all the 10 wickets without conceding a single run during a tournament called the Late Bhawer Singh T20 tournament.
Playing for Disha Cricket Academy (DCA), Akash rocked Pearl Academy (PA) to help his team win the game by 120 runs. After being asked to bat first, DCA posted a competitive total of 156 before Akash’s stunning spell helped them to bowl PA out for a paltry 32 out of which 16 runs were not scored from the bat and were extra.
Expressing his delight after the monumental feat, the teenager told Sportskeeda:
“I cannot thank God enough for this. A five-wicket haul in a T20 is possible on a good day, but a 10-wicket haul, without giving away a single run, is all luck.”
“I took two wickets in the first over, another two in the second over, another two in the third over and four wickets in my last over, which included a hat-trick off the last three balls,” he added.
The budding cricket hailed from a small district called Bharatpur near the Rajasthan-Uttar Pradesh border and said that he was inspired by his elder brother who was a district-level cricketer.
“My elder brother played district-level cricket in Rajasthan and that is the reason I too developed an interest in the game. He would often take me along for this matches,” he said.
“My parents then got me enrolled at the Shardul Sports School in Bikaner. In 2014, I shifted to Jaipur to be coached by Mr Vivek Yadav at the Arawalli Cricket Club. Mr Yadav has worked with the Delhi Daredevils and Rajasthan Ranji Trophy team,” he added.
The 15-year old also revealed his liking for former India pacer Zaheer Khan by saying:
“I am a huge fan of Zaheer Khan’s bowling and hope to make it as big as him one day.”
