The skipper of the Indian women’s team Mithali Raj removes Australia’s Meg Lanning to reach the top spot in International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Women’s batting list after the latter missed out on the ODI series against England due to injury. Australia’s Ellyse Perry and England’s Amy Satterthwaite of New Zealand also jumped one spot to be at the second and third position in the latest ranking list issue by ICC earlier today. However, Meg Lanning found herself slipped three places to be tied at four. Mithali, who was outstanding during the World Cup, has 752 points whereas Perry and Satterthwaite are on 725 and 720 points respectively. England’s Sarah Taylor and Heather Knight gained two places each to be at 10th and 12 the sport respectively.

The bowling list saw veteran Indian pacer Jhulan Goswami, who also had a fair stint during India’s impressive show at the World Cup remained at the second position with 652 points behind South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp who was at 656 points. Megan Schutt of Australia attained her career-best ranking as she found herself at the fourth position courtesy he brilliant performance in the ODI series against England. She was the leading wicket-taker in the tournament; however, England’s Jenny Gunn gained one place to be at the 19th sport while her colleague Anya Shrubsole, who took England to victory in the World Cup final against India, found herself at the sixth position.

Earlier this month, England removed Australia for the first team for the first time following their World Cup win. Going in the series England was ahead by decimal points with both teams at 128 points; Australia made the most of the home condition without their experienced campaigner Lanning going up to 129 points thus maintaining a gap of two points.
