1st Test Day 4: Top five moments of India vs West Indies

India defeated West Indies by an innings and 92 runs in the first Test match. Despite Marlon Samuels, Carlos Braithwaite and Bishoo playing good knocks for West Indies, the home team can’t prevent from losing the match. R Ashwin was the pick of bowlers who picked 7 wickets and helped India to register their biggest win against West Indies.

- Ashwin’s seven-wicket haul
India’s ace spinner R Ashwin was the pick the bowlers for India. Ashwin who has done well in India was brought on by Kohli in the 26th over. Before the lunch break, he did not pick any wickets. After the break he came and just destroyed the West Indies batting line-up. He bowled with flight and dismissed Chandikra, Blackwood and Samuels to break the backbone of West Indies batting line up. When the tail frustrated the Indian bowling, Ashwin completed the job. This was the first five-wicket haul outside India. He finished with a haul of 7/83.

2. Marlon Samuels’ 50
The most experienced player Marlon Samuels was the best player on the show. He played with lots of comforts and attacked Ashwin. When West Indies lost Darren Bravo earlier in the day, Marlon Samuels played well to attack Ashwin and Mishra. Marlon Samuels scored a half-century off 85 balls. He looked comfortable and made it tough for the Indian bowlers to dismiss Marlon Samuels.
3. Regular fall of wickets
The third wicket between Marlon Samuels and Chandrika put on 67 runs. Chandrika was dismissed by Ashwin. After that Blackwood, Marlon Samuels, Chase, Dowrich and Holder went in quick succession to leave West Indies in tatters at 132 for 8. In just 1 hour the West Indies batsmen lost its plot. Ashwin was the pick of the bowlers who bowled with flight and venom creating pressure on West Indies batting line up.
4. Carlos Braithwaite and Devendra Bishoo frustrated Indian bowlers
The 8th wicket fell at the score of 132 runs. Devendra Bishoo and Carlos Braithwaite played with attacking intent. Both of them played Ashwin and Mishra with lots of comforts. Bishoo and Carlos Braithwaite 95 runs for the 9th wicket which frustrated the Indian bowling line up. The top order failed to cope with the Indian bowling line up but these two proved that West Indies must play with aggressive intent.
5. Good support from India’s fast bowlers
The Indian fast bowlers comprising of Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav and Mohammad Shami bowled with aggressive intent. Ishant Sharma picked the first wicket. Despite not picking wickets, the three fast bowlers did not be aggressive. Umesh Yadav picked 1 wicket and Mohammad Shami despite going on 2.6 runs per over. This was the main reason that the Indian team won the first test match.
