Last year, the Indian cricket team kicked off the long home season comprising of a total of 13 Test matches. The home side made merry and won 10 out of 13 Test matches. The only loss came against Australia in Pune which was a surprise but Indian team bounced back soon and went onto win two games in the series.
The season is over and now, the Men in Blue are all set to kick off a long season outside the home conditions, which will last for more than a year.

Cheteshwar Pujara, who was the star of the side in the long home season was a vital cog in the wheel in team’s success. The golden moment came when he scored three back to back centuries in the season and also his double century against Australia in Ranchi Test, where he batted for 665 minutes facing 525 balls.
However, Test specialist player was not there in the IPL and the right-handed batsman made most of the time and travelled to Nottinghamshire to play the county cricket where he had a good time with the bat. Again, the form of Pujara will describe the success of team India on the overseas tours.
Before the start the first Test in Galle, Pujara shared his thoughts on his county stint and also on the long home season. Here is what he said –
“England was enjoyable. It teaches me a lot, to become a better cricketer. had a good time playing for Nottinghamshire. Got one hundred and fifty, and after that, I practiced back home. It was probably one of the best seasons so far in my career [2016-17] We would like to repeat the same things as last season and take it to South Africa as well. I love to score big runs so once I was set I have to convert the fifties into hundred and hundreds of big ones. Playing domestic cricket in India, on turning tracks, playing spin is a part of my game and I know my game very well. The pitch here might start turning from day three onwards”
