Group A is having an interesting time regarding the points table. Thanks to England’s weather and surely the rain.
On Monday, Australia vs Bangladesh’s match being abandoned saw both the sides sharing one point each. Earlier, New Zealand vs Australia match too suffered the same fate but at the different venue in Edgbaston, Birmingham.
The match on Tuesday is a must win. England is elated after winning a match against Bangladesh and New Zealand is frustrated enough after a good start and then sharing points with their neighbours Australia.
England has some selection issues to finalise and was not helped by Monday’s persistent rain which kept them indoors and the pitch under full cover. Finn, back in the reckoning after the injury which ruled Chris Woakes out of the tournament, may yet come straight back into the team. Morgan confirmed the Middlesex seamer was an automatic choice when England needed a squad replacement for Woakes.
England will step in the semifinals with just another win and New Zealand has to win to keep their hopes alive.
Sam Billings too showed his excitement of today’s match by posting a picture with Joe Root and tweeting his desperation for the game to take place. He also asked a simple question, “Who are Excited? ” Well, we all are!
