2017 ICC Champions Trophy: A Coach And Skipper Have To Deal With It - Sourav Ganguly On Kumble-Kohli Row 1
The former India skipper, Sourav Ganguly, has commented on the alleged row in the team going on between Head Coach Anil Kumble and skipper Virat Kohli.
One of the members of Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), that will decide upon the new coach for Indian cricket team, Ganguly has said that it’s the part and parcel of the game and the coach and a skipper have to deal with it during the course,

“Just deal with it. You’re a name, you’re captain of India, you’re coach of India, you’ll have to deal with this. Just keep quiet and play the game. I don’t know (if it’s affecting the players). Whether there is uncertainty or not, I don’t know,” he added. “We’ll have to wait and see. All of us can talk. But there are two exceptional cricketers: Virat Kohli and Anil Kumble. They’re responsible cricketers. They know what they’re doing,” Ganguly said.

“Sometimes, small things just get blown out of proportion,” he added. “When you have two friends sit in a media box and talk, you have a different opinion about a player, he has a different opinion. But that doesn’t mean you don’t get along. That’s life. Everybody faces controversy. Just deal with it and go on. You should not worry about it. Professionals find a way. Look at (Cristiano) Ronaldo. He’s in controversies every week but he comes and takes Real Madrid to the Champions League final,” he added.

His comments have come after Ganguly met players of the Indian cricket team and skipper Kohli during the practice session. As per the reports, Ganguly asked players to give their feedback on Kumble so as the committee can decide whether to give him an extension or chose another option.
The stint of Kumble as the coach of the side ends after the ongoing Champions Trophy. A total of five former players including Virender Sehwag and Tom Moody have applied for the post and the reports suggest that Sehwag is the favourite for the post, due to the fact that he was asked by skipper Kohli himself to apply for the post.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli, in the pre-match press conference before the game against Pakistan, has denied any news of rift with Anil Kumble and has blamed media for making it an issue, despite not knowing about the matter.
However, still, no one can deny the claim that both have had a difference of opinion in past as well right from the start when Kumble took over the reins. BCCI will announce the new coach of the side after the conclusion of Champions Trophy.
