2017 ICC Champions Trophy: Aamir Sohail Alleges Indirect Match-Fixing, Blasts Skipper For Overblown Praises 1

In a startling revelation, former Pakistan skipper Aamir Sohail has posed a serious question, as he indirectly alleged match-fixing regarding the two wins Men in Green registered against Sri Lanka and South Africa, respectively during the ongoing 2017 ICC Champions Trophy in England and Wales.

Interestingly, the short clip of Aamir’s rant on a TV show certainly gives the impression that he is alleging Pakistan of match-fixing, as former Pakistan batsman Javed Miandad was also part of the discussion.

While talking to Pakistan’s Samaa TV during the preview match show of the first semi-final between England and Pakistan on Wednesday at the Sophia Gardens in Welsh capital Cardiff, the former Pakistan batsman hints there are multiple reasons why Pakistan won, as he categorically declared he won’t be disclosing the reason behind other than prayers from the nation which further took anchors by surprise.

Levelling the allegations on his national team Sohail reveals it was ‘external force’ which helped Pakistan to reach to this position.

“Someone has won matches for you. However, I won’t reveal who has been the source, but prayers did play its part by the grace of God,” Sohail maintained.

However, in his view, Sohail didn’t refer the glaring fielding errors and the two drop catches of Sarfraz which were grassed by Thisara Perera and Seekkuge Prasanna on the bowling of Lasith Malinga.

“If you’ll do wrong we are here to criticize and correct you and if you’ll do things right in your own course we’ll definitely appreciate,” Sohail asserted.

The Lahore-born 50-year-old Aamir had also blasted current national team skipper and wicket-keeper batsman Sarfraz Ahmed for exaggerated praises while giving him a piece of advice to mind his own business.

“Sarfaraz needs to be told that he hasn’t done anything special. We all know what happens and what not. He should just play his cricket. Keep quiet and focus on your game,” Sohail added.

It’s pertinent to note, Sarfraz remained unbeaten on 61 off 79 deliveries after two-hour stay which further saw Amir registered 28* off 43 balls. The development surfaced over social media after the virtual quarter-final between Men in Green and Sri Lanka on June 12.

It was a 75-run record eighth wicket partnership from Sarfraz and Amir, which eventually saw the side home by three wickets, as they chased down the target of 237 in 44.5 overs after bundling out Sri Lanka in 49.2 overs.

Aamir featured in 156 One-day Internationals and 47 Tests for Pakistan. He had amassed 4,780 runs in ODIs and 2,823 runs in Tests.

Here’s the video which is doing rounds on social media platform after die-hard fans praised the effort of a team:
