Spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan will partner Daniel Vettori as the second spinner in the side. The combination of off-breaks and doosra made life hell for the batsmen in the late 90’s and 2000’s, especially in the middle overs of the innings.
He played a crucial role in Sri Lanka’s campaign from 1998 to 2009, taking 24 wickets in 17 matches with a miserly economy of 3.60.
This extraordinary record makes him the second highest wicket taker in the history of the tournament.
