As far as the opening slot is concerned, Virender Sehwag happens to be the best after Chris Gayle. He first played in the tournament in 2002 and featured regularly till the 2006 edition. During three editions, Sehwag managed 389 runs 10 matches at an average of 48.62 which included two fifties and a century.
His record may not be highly impressive but he stood to his reputation of providing quick starts for India on most occasions. With these two at the top, the opposition bowler will start sweating.
