- Attack In Overs 30-40:
Very few people have grasped the fact that these days in the new ODI rules where five fielders are allowed outside the circle in the last ten overs, the death overs commence from the 30th over itself. The phase from overs 30-40 are the final phase of four fielders outside the circle and this is India’s best chance of going for the kill if they have two settled men at the wicket. A major reason for India’s loss to Sri Lanka was the inability to turn it on in this very phase. Considering that two settled batsmen are around the 30th over mark, it is expected that India scores anywhere between 170 to 200 in the last 20. In this phase, tackling the guile of Imran Tahir becomes way too significant. India would do themselves a massive favour if they don’t allow Tahir to settle in.
