Stokes has been in some serious form over the last few months, and against New Zealand he made that obvious. Coming in at a tricky situation during the innings, Stokes ensured that Root had efficient support and the duo rebuilt the England innings. Thanks to Stokes’ 48 off 53 deliveries, a proper base was set for the likes of Jos Buttler. With the ball as well, he was in the centre of attraction, as he picked up the crucial wicket of Martin Guptill.
