Coming with the recent success on their backs, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been an ideal choice for Kohli, who would be leading his team for the first team in the mega event.
The pressure would be on the skipper, but while covering all the bases, Men in Blue has bolstered their bowling department which includes Jasprit Bumrah, who has executed his death bowling well and it would be interesting to see how he would use his stock ball ‘Yorker’ in the death overs against New Zealand.
With the obvious choice to go with slow bowlers in the form of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya is expected to play a crucial role with his slower ones as he has the knack of mixing the deliveries in a bid to yield results at will.
Of late, on the other side, injury-marred Mohammed Shami is an exciting addition to the team, it would be a significant game for him to acclimatise the conditions before the mega event kicks off on June 1 and he can bowl in tandem with Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Shami, who last played his ODI against Australia in 2015, would like to quench his thirst as he has given his best to make a return in the team after recovering from injury.
Shami didn’t have enough success in the IPL this season after picking just five wickets in his eight outing, but in the alien conditions, he becomes a different bowler to face off.
