Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler made vital contrition with the bat after the first 30 overs. For once, it looked like England would be bowled out for a total of 250 but then, both the players showed their worth and got the job done for the team. First, it was Stokes who made a vital contribution of 48 runs to hold the team at a stage when the game could have gone anywhere.
Then, it was the turn of Buttler to show his skills. The England wicket-keeper played an aggressive innings of 61 off 48 balls to lift the run-rate, so as to put New Zealand under pressure. The vital contributions made by these two proved to be a match-winning due to the fact that they had the main role in getting the team’s total par the number 300.
