2017 ICC Champions Trophy: Tamim Iqbal Credits Tendulkar, Amla For Improving His Game 1

Bangladesh batting mainstay Tamim Iqbal believes the mental stability has yielded him desired results while playing for his national side in the recent past before leaving an impact in the opener of the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy.

Tamim added the former Indian legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and South African batsman Hashim Amla has played a significant role in his improvement.

Believing in his mental strength, Tamim was also seen receiving the tips from former cricketers and coaches to enhance his game in general.

“I learnt a lot from talking with cricketers like Hashim Amla. I have also talked with some Indian cricketers especially Sachin Tendulkar,” Tamim Iqbal was quoted as bdcrictime.

However, it becomes pertinent to note, Tamim felt his technique hasn’t been his issue, as he stated one has to learn throughout.

The 28-year-old Tamim has effusively praised the batting stalwart Tendulkar, for parting the knowledge as the latter feels, the talks with the veterans of the game has helped him to improve at the international scene.

“The way he talks could make any cricketer better on receiving just a few tips from him,” Tamim added.

The left-handed batsman Tamim, who struck a fine hundred in the ICC’s Champions Trophy opener against hosts England is yearning to meet batting prodigy Virat Kohli while stating he is best while holding the bat.

“If I will get the chance, I want to talk with Virat Kohli also because he is a master of transforming littles into great innings,” Tamim asserted.

After going through a lean patch in the recent past, Tamim has adapted to the conditions while displaying the best of the spirit for the gentleman’s game with a certain frame of mind to achieve the success.

Since 2015 World Cup, Tamim has shown quality improvement, as he has notched up five hundred and eight half-centuries. Tamim reveals he has been working hard for his innings and his aim has been to anchor the innings at the top.

“I feel also lucky to be able to do that. Whenever I get the chance to open for my team, I try to lengthen my innings so that it benefits the team,” Tamim remarked.

Tamim has further revealed he has been working on his fitness while expressing his satisfaction while losing around 10 kgs. Tamim has featured in 170 One-day Internationals, as he has amassed 5,578 runs at an average of 34.01. The Chittagong-born Tamim has registered nine hundred and 36 fifties.
