2017 ICC Champions Trophy: The Moment You Write Off MS Dhoni, He Rises Up – Makhaya Ntini
MS Dhoni has always been a star player for the Indian Side, always delivering what is required out of him, be it with his bat, behind the wicket or with his cool mind. Though he has resigned from captaincy still his words and presence on the field is of much worth.
While many are questioning MSD’s presence on the field, his former Chennai Super King’s teammate Makhaya Ntini feels different of the man.
“The moment you write him off, he rises up, ” the former South African pacer said about Dhoni.
He also spoke about current the Indian bowling and how it has improved now. Here are his excerpts from his candid chats:
Ntini On MS DHONI:
You never doubt Dhoni. He can never be finished. That guy can take the game away any given time. You give him the game, he’ll do what he wants to do. He’s a legend. The moment you write him off, he rises up.
On India’s Pace Attack:
You need to have Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the playing XI. If you don’t have that little boy, you’re missing the point. That young man, with the conditions that you’d be facing in England, he’s No 1. He can swing the ball, he can do anything that he wants to with the ball.
We’re not talking about batsmen. If you guys pout your hand in your pocket, you’ll find a batsman and spinner. You guys are so powerful, that any other nation would love to be like you.
On South Africa’s Chances:
South Africa played the series against England recently and lost 2-1. We as South Africans took it as a learning curve, by going to England in advance where we can study the conditions, to study the wickets and the weather. Only thing now they need to do is put everything together and see where to go from where they failed.
On Newly Launched T20 Global League:
It was one thing that South Africa was in need of to tick the whole box when it comes to cricket. We have seen the IPL in India and the Big Bash in Australia. Our children are going to have fun, playing the shortest format with the likes of big guns like (Kieron) Pollard, (Chris) Gayle, (Lasith) and Malinga, from the bowling point of view.
Currently, Ntini has the tough task of coaching Zimbabwe, which just hasn’t grown as a cricket nation in recent times.
“Because of the ICC rankings, no country wants to come to Zimbabwe. Now, they’ve been given the opportunity to have more games. Zimbabwe will be hosting the World Cup qualifiers, so that’s very good for us,” he said.
