Rickey Ponting is arguably Australia’s most successful skipper and their best batsman since Sir Donald Bradman.

Mostly, the Australian cricket team always loved to come hard on the opposition but tournaments involving different nations was a different ball game. There was more aggression and enhanced showings on the field. This reflects the fact that Australia had won the trophy twice in 2006 and 2009, the most number of times by any team in the history of the championship.

Ponting was at the forefront on both the occasions leading the side. His contribution as the prominent batsman of the side was also crucial. He scored 593 runs in 18 games at an average 39.53 with a century and four fifties.
