It was the league match of 2003 World Cup. Pakistan batted first and scored 273 which was a very good score back in those times. Saeed Anwar once again scored a 100 against India and continued his swansong.
No other Pakistan batsman scored a 50 in that match interestingly. Zaheer Khan was the pick of Indian bowlers with his figures reading 10-0-46-2.
Chasing a stiff total against the formidable Pakistani bowling attack, India got off to a great start. Sachin & Sehwag added 50 in no time, they smashed the likes of Wasim and Waqar into oblivion. Two quick wickets brought Pakistan back in the game. But Sachin kept going and played one of the best innings in world cup history.
He struggled with cramps but no Pakistani bowler looked like troubling him. He got out after scoring a match-winning 98 off 75 balls with India needing close to 100 runs.
Yuvraj Singh & Rahul Dravid then took India home with six wickets. Sachin Tendulkar was awarded the Man of the Match and he too stressed on the significance of winning against Pakistan.
