Despite having just one shared trophy to their name in 2002 with India when they hosted the event, Sri Lanka has been a really consistent side in the elite event.
Sri Lanka’s 24 games have involved 13 victories and in all these events, the side went into the tournament on the back of some serious experience. This time, however, the side is terribly short of muscle and experience, as all the senior pros such as Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara have bid adieu to the game.
Termed as the underdogs, Sri Lanka would be eager to make it to the next round this time around.
