Pretty much like the trend of their rivalry since the last decade, the India-Pakistan game of the ICC Champions Trophy ended in a straightforward one-sided victory for the men in blue.
With rain interfering in between Pakistan’s chase, India was utterly dominant in the game, as the Virat Kohli-led outfit simply embarrassed Pakistan in front of a jam-packed Birmingham.
Chasing a revised target of 289 in 41 overs, Pakistan got off to a sedate start before Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck first blood by trapping opener Ahmad Shehzad plumb in front. The much hyped Babar Azam turned out to be a damn squib, as he was sent back packing quite early by the sheer hostility of Umesh Yadav, as he was caught by Ravindra Jadeja at the point.
Former skipper Azhar Ali was the only Pakistani batsman who displayed any zeal in the middle with a half-century, but keeping in mind the mounting required run rate and no real support at the other end, his innings turned out to be futile.
For India, it was ‘Sir’ Ravindra Jadeja who stood out with a couple of wickets. Jadeja’s brilliance was even witnessed in the outfield, as he sent back Shoaib Malik with an electrifying run-out. All-rounder Hardik Pandya too had a productive day, as he chipped in with a few wickets.
Fans on Twitter went wild throughout the game and below are some of the tweets.

Very perplexed by the way Pakistan have played this one. If indeed, they have played it at all,

Asking rate 8.5 now. Bright sunshine. India won't mind this Pakistan run-rate! Like @hardikpandya7's length here. Giving no room
