Twitter has absolutely savaged Ravindra Jadeja after his mistake cost Hardik Pandya his wicket in the recently-concluded Champions Trophy final where Pakistan thrashed India by a whopping margin of 180 runs to win the coveted trophy.
Chasing an improbable 338, India began the chase in the worst possible manner with Rohit Sharma departing for a duck in the very first over. India’s other in-form batsmen- Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli- also could not do much either and joined Rohit in the pavilion soon to leave the Men in Blue reeling at 33 for 3. And the contest was looking as good as over when Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav departed too as India were reduced 72 for 6 in the 17th over.
However, Pandya was not ready to throw in the towel yet and waged a lone battle from one end to keep India in the hunt. The all-rounder played the big shots at will and had raced to 76 off just 43 balls with the help of 4 fours and six sixes. However, his promising knock came to a disastrous end when a mix-up with Ravindra Jadeja resulted in his run-out.
Pandya could have well survived that mix-up had Jadeja sacrificed his wicket but the left-handed batsman did otherwise cost India their last hope as the defending champions were bowled out for 158 inside 31 overs.
Meanwhile, the Twitterati have not spared Jadeja for his mistake. Here are some of the reactions:
Not what @BCCI wanted. @imjadeja involved in a mix up. Maybe he should have sacrificed himself to allow @hardikpandya7 to bat on

Jadeja is going to play the greatest 25 overs in history to avoid meeting Pandya in the dressing room.

Now that is just ridiculous. Why wouldn't Jadeja sacrifice his wicket for Pandya – given how he was batting?

Pandya looked like he wanted to hit Jadeja as far as he hit that earlier six. #PakvInd #ct17
