The stage is ready and the much awaited day has finally arrived. India and Pakistan are all set to take on each other at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground, Birmingham. Both the teams will look to field their best XI. After all, it’s a matter of prestige for the both the sides and their respective fans.

India start as the favourites, simply on the basis of possessing a better-balanced side as compared to Pakistan. However, things took slightly bothered turn after opener Shikhar Dhawan was absent from the net sessions a day ago. The reason being a blow to his ribs on Thursday which forced him from to skip the training.

While the training was optional, the injury issue created a huge concern. The left-hander is all set to open the innings with his long-time partner Rohit Sharma after a period of nearly seven months. Thus far, there is no serious report regarding his fitness. He is likely to play against Pakistan in the tournament opener.

However, the injury scare made fans sit up and think about the possible names in the squad who could replace Dhawan in case the unfortunate news arrives.
