2017 ICC Champions Trophy: Virender Sehwag Congratulates Pakistan Team 1

Virender Sehwag congratulated Pakistan after an upset over India in the final of ICC Champions Trophy. Here is what he tweeted –

Sehwag had earlier predicted an easy win for the Indian team ahead of the final of ICC Champions Trophy but the game panned out to be in a totally drastic way where Pakistan registered an upset by defeating India in the final. They crushed India by a margin of 180 runs, which is their highest ever win over the defending champions.

However, there was time in the game when Shikhar Dhawan and Yuvraj Singh had a short stay at the crease when it looked like India might be able to get past the total but as said, it was just a short stay and soon, both were back in the pavilion, to leave the batting line-up in limbo.

The second time again hopes of a win got a bit of air when Hardik Pandya was swinging his bat freely and was producing runs out of it but a silly run-out ended his innings, a moment which was all over for the Indian team as his wicket started incoming of Indian tailenders on the crease.

The win is of much importance for Pakistan as they were the lowest ranked team coming in the tournament, who gave chance to a new youngster by dropping a big player like Ahmed Shehzad, a punt which got them benefits and Fakhar Zaman shone in the big final, scoring a match-winning century.

Moving ahead of this, the journey was also a good one for the Indian team as it was a big achievement for them to reach to this stage of the tournament.
