2017 ICC Champions Trophy: Watch: Mohammad Hafeez Rides His Luck As He Is Bowled But Bails Do Not Come Off 1

Paksitan batsman Mohammad Hafeez benefited from a huge stroke of luck in the ongoing Champions Trophy final. India fast-bowler Jasprit Bumrah delivered a brilliant quick yorker to the right-handed batsman and the ball after breaching his defence went on to hit the the off-stump with good amount of force.

However, the Pakistani batsmen, who was batting on 46 at that time, was handed a staggering reprieve when the bails did not even move from their place let alone falling. In fact, the ball rebounded so hard off the stump that it left everyone surprised including the commentators.

Here is a clip of that incident:

That was a major relief for Pakistan as Hafeez was looking in blistering form at that time. Capitalising fully on the reprieve, the 36-year old went on to score 57 off just 37 balls to power Pakistan to a daunting 338 for 4 in the allotted 50 overs. Earlier, Pakistan openers Fakhar Zaman and Azhar Ali proved India skipper Virat Kohli’s decision to bowl first totally wrong by adding 128 runs. The brilliant partnership came to an end when Azhar was disastrously run-out for 59.

However, Fakhar fully capitalised on the start and went on to compile his maiden ODI ton before being dismissed by Hardik Pandya for 114. Babar Azam kept the scoreboard ticking at a good pace with 46 from 52, before Mohammad Hafeez broke loose in the final overs. He was well supported by Imad Wasim who remained unbeaten on 25.
