2017 Records: Highest Margin of Victory (Runs) in ODI’s
2017 has been a year with of full of dramas as far as international cricket is concerned. The biggest takeaway from this year is Pakistan’s Champions Trophy triumph especially because none gave them a chance ahead of the tournament while some had predicted that they would get eliminated in the group stage itself.
The year has witnessed some exceptional individual performances which have helped their team win several matches. During this year, there were quite a few matches which were dominated by a particular team. In the list for largest ODI victories in the year 2017, India, New Zealand, and South Africa find their name twice each on the list.
The list is headed by New Zealand, as they registered a comprehensive victory by 204 runs against the Windies on Friday, as they thumped the Caribbeans to set up the record for the largest ODI victory in the year just a week before the conclusion of the year. It was a sensational bowling performance which saw him finish with exceptional figures of 7/34 in his allotted 10 overs.
The Proteas are 2nd on the list with a 200-run victory against Bangladesh in October when AB e Villiers made a stunning comeback and struck a magnificent century. New Zealand occupies the 3rd spot yet again while England is in the 4th position with a 186-run victory over the Windies in March.
5th on the list is Pakistan who registered a stunning victory by 18 runs in the finals of the ICC Champions Trophy to seal the tournament for the first time in their career.
Like the longest format of the game, Team India’s record for largest victories in ODI’s too has come against the Lankans. While they defeated the Islanders by 168 runs in August, the Men in Blue registered yet another comprehensive victory by 141 runs which saw Rohit Sharma struck his 3rd ODI century. Minnows Afghanistan also finds them on the list on the back of a 138-run victory against Ireland early in the month. The 10th position is again held by the Men in Blue when they won the opening clash of Champions Trophy by 124 runs against arch-rivals Pakistan.
