India to square off against South Africa in ICC World Cup 2019 opener on June 4, as per reports.

The schedule of the upcoming ICC World Cup of 2019, to be held in England, has been announced recently.

India is slated to play against South Africa in the tournament opener on June 4, 2019.

Also, the schedule for the following season of Indian Premier League (IPL) has also been announced.

Unlike its usual start in April, the league will commence on March 29 and shall go around till May 19. It gives India only 16 days window to prepare for the World Cup in England.

Also, India is supposed to play a whopping 19 Test matches at home according to the Future Tours Programme for the period of 2019-23.

In the past few multilateral ICC tournaments, India has had the better of South Africa. India defeated the South Africa in the recent Champions Trophy in 2017, held in England.

Also, India went on to defeat the Proteas in the World Cup of 2015 in Australia. Interestingly, the last time they defeated India in a multi-lateral ICC tournament was in the World Cup of 2011.

MS Dhoni and his young troops grabbed hold of the Champions Trophy in England by defeating South Africa during their first match of the tournament which was held in England.
