Australia’s limited-overs skipper Aaron Finch believes the 3-2 series win against India in 2019 gives them the confidence to succeed in the upcoming three-match series. Finch believes that series win shows they have a game plan which is good enough to savor success in the subcontinent conditions. Australia was trailing by 0-2 in the five-match series and then came back to win the series 3-2 in 2019.

It was a fine performance from the Australian team as they were able to tick the right boxes. Furthermore, the visitors also clinched the T20I series 2-0 as Glenn Maxwell had batted at the top of his game. Ergo, Australia would aim to replicate their performance in the forthcoming tour.

Australia will be confident after success against New Zealand and Pakistan.

“It just gives us confidence that our game plan in those conditions is good enough,” he told cricket.com.au ahead of his departure.

“What can happen when you play in the sub-continent is you start to doubt your game plan because they’re so dominant when they get on top.

“India or Pakistan… or Sri Lanka. They can make you start doubting yourself.

“Knowing that our game plan is good enough and knowing that our skills are good enough to beat India in India. That gives us a lot of confidence going there.”

On the other hand, Justin Langer is going to miss the India tour. Langer will hand over the coaching baton to the assistant coach, Andrew McDonald. Justin Langer who has had an intense Test match season was all praise for McDonald.

“He’s got great credentials and he’ll keep growing. He’s got a really good opportunity,” Langer told reporters this week.

“I said to him: ‘we’re not reinventing the wheel’. I won’t ring him, I’ll let him go.

“He said ‘I might ring you’. He’ll do a really good job.”

The first ODI between India and Australia will take place at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on 14th January.
