KL Rahul –
The 27-year-old has never led an IPL team but holds a strong chance to replace Ashwin as captain. With 593 runs, he was the top-scorer for KXIP in IPL 2019 and finished behind Sunrisers Hyderabad’s David Warner overall. He leads the race to take over the post but if appointed, then Rahul might feel overburdened as he will keep wickets, open the innings and also lead the side.
In case the team management might just want Rahul to focus on his batting, he may not be overburdened with extra responsibility and this could see him not taking over as KXIP’s captain
