Another player from Karnataka, Nair has an edge over the two players as he has led an IPL team before – he led Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in IPL 2017 in the absence of Zaheer Khan for few matches – and is also leading Karnataka in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He has led his state team in Ranji Trophy as well.
Nair, who got just one chance in IPL 2019, isn’t a regular in the playing XI but things can change drastically in IPL, as we have seen in past. KXIP invested heavily on him and had bought him for a huge amount of Rs 5.6 Crores before IPL 2018. In 69 IPL matches, Nair has scored 1464 runs at 24.81 with a strike-rate of 128.53.
