Alastair Cook, England captain, won the toss and decided to bat first on what seems to be as a spin-friendly Mohali wicket. England made three changes to their the playing XI as they included Jos Buttler in place of the under-performing Ben Duckett. Stuart Broad, who sustained a foot injury in the Vizag Test, has been ruled out. Chris Woakes replaced him while offie Gareth Batty also made his way back in the playing XI.
On the other hand, Virat Kohli-led India were forced to make a late change as KL Rahul, who sustained a blow to his left forearm in the Vizag Test, had to be sidelined. The injury aggravated during practice on Friday and medical team advised him to rest for Mohali Test. Karun Nair was handed his maiden Test cap. Parthiv Patel, meanwhile, replaced Wriddhiman Saha.
