Pune franchise has already got a page in the history of IPL. Initially, they started as a Sahara Pune side with legendary players representing their franchise, which also include Sourav Ganguly. However, they were terminated after financial issues and once again made a comeback on a contract basis of 2 years. They almost sealed a cup in their 2nd year before losing to Mumbai by 1 run.
The RPG-Sanjeev Goenka Group, which was previously involved with temporary franchise Rising Pune Supergiant, is reportedly keen for a return to the IPL.
