Dhoni is undoubtedly the greatest ever captain to lead India. However, there is no denying the fact that the man is slowly but steadily losing his charisma. It was widely expected that Dhoni would lead the team in the 2019 World Cup but there are still around three years left before the tournament. And considering Dhoni’s form, it is unlikely that he would be able to give his best at the highest stage of the game till 2019. And so giving the captaincy to a young player seems the best option. Dhoni’s early decision will also give the new skipper ample time to get accustomed to the captaincy.
