Virat Kohli Foundation has now joined hands with Abhishek Bachchan’s ‘Playing for Humanity’ to organise a charity football match which will feature limited overs captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni apart from the new Test captain Kohli and Bollywood superstar Ranbir Kapoor.
The exhibition match named as ‘Celebrity Clasico 2016′ will take place at the Mumbai Football Arena, Andheri Sports Complex, on Saturday, June 4 to generate funds for the foundations’ charitable initiatives.
Virat will lead the All Heart Football Club (a property of The Virat Kohli Foundation) and Abhishek Bachchan is ready to lead All Stars Football Club (run by Playing for Humanity).
Along with Kohli and Dhoni, some of India’s top cricketers like Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh, Ajinkya Rahane, R Ashwin will be playing in this match.
Meanwhile, from Bollywood town apart from Bachchan Jr and Ranbir, the three other prominent stars are Arjun Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapoor and celebrated director Shoojit Sircar.
Looks like the Indian cricketers are spending some quality time after the Indian Premier League extravaganza.
Virat Kohli has been in the spotlight from the very beginning of this year with his outstanding batting form. A pure entertainment!
Kohli was the man turned superman in this IPL, scoring centuries and half-centuries almost at will, almost single-handedly taking his side to the knockouts from a totally hopeless position, notching up close to 1,000 runs in the tournament, winning the orange cap, the player of the tournament… What else can he possibly do?
He would have traded all these accolades for an IPL championship for the RCB, I am sure. But that championship could not be won, at least not this year, and RCB remained the bridesmaid at the IPL.
What was particularly heart-breaking was that the RCB fell just eight runs short, that too chasing a mammoth 209 for victory.
But it’s all over now. It’s time to enjoy far from cricket and Kohli is there to entertain you with his football skills.
