It was a great achievement for Bangladesh to reach the Champions Trophy Semi-final for the first time in their history but they were helped by rain and a tremendous performance against the Kiwis. After losing the opening match to England, Bangladesh was lucky to get off with a point against Australia which got abandoned due to rain. The Aussies were way ahead in the game and would have won hands down had the match been completed.

Chasing a score of around 260 runs, Bangladesh were jolted early as they lost four wickets without much on the board. From there on it was Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah Riad who stitched together a brilliant double century partnership as both the batsmen reached their respective centuries to help Bangladesh chase down the target. They were eventually knocked out in the Semi-final after a resounding performance by the Men in Blue.
