Sri-Lanka set a tricky target of 275. When Virat Kohli got out India needed 161 in 28.2 overs. The situation was looking shaky but Dhoni promoted himself to No. 5 ahead of India’s star performer in the middle order in that tournament Yuvraj Singh. The decision surprised many as Yuvraj had scored 362 runs in the tournament and Dhoni could manage only 150 runs in the entire tournament.

But the skipper proved everyone wrong and hit a superb 91. The wicket-keeper batsman was well supported by Gautam Gambhir who hit a superlative 97. When Gambhir got out India needed 52 more runs to win. In came Yuvraj Singh who scored 21 with Dhoni hitting the winning runs.
