Like a few other international teams, 2016 was a moderate year for South Africa, as the Proteas went through phases of highs and lows. The highs would surely comprise of winning the Test series Down Under for a successive third time, while also whitewashing the same opposition at home in a five-match ODI series.
The lows nonetheless, were several, with a Test series loss to England at home being a major one. The fact that under Faf du Plessis’ leadership, they couldn’t make it to the semi-finals of the World T20 was another agonizing low.
