At present, the rule considering the racial quota targets has plagued South Africa like a cancer. As a result of selecting players based on their racial backgrounds and not merit, South Africa has lost the services of several talented individuals in the recent past. The loss of pacer Kyle Abbott though, was the biggest blow as he was more than happy to move to England with a crisp new contract with Hampshire. If the attitude of the government and Cricket South Africa (CSA) remains same, the Proteas could witness a further exodus of talent from their nation. Such a thing is shameful not just for South Africa alone, but for the entire cricketing fraternity, as it robs the sport of genuine talent.
