The pocket size dynamo is a hard hitter of the ball across the formats of the game. The Australian opener made his one-day international debut in 2009 and Test debut in 2011. The opener is known for giving Australia a good start along with bulky Aaron Finch. Warner is nowhere close to Virat Kohli in ODI format. As an opener, it is difficult for every batsman to score runs like a No. 3 batsman. The job of the opener is to face the new ball at a fresh surface and provide a good momentum to the team.
So, on a couple of occasions, he got out early due to hara-kiri. Warner’s hard-hitting ability as an opener often allow his captain Steve Smith to score a plethora of runs for the team as the surface become easy and the new ball lost the polish. But, in Test cricket, Warner is a different batsman like former Indian batsman Virender Sehwag, who ODI career was nowhere close to his greatness in Test cricket as in the former format his job was giving India a good start. He in Test format did an outstanding job so far. In 51 matches he scored 4506 at an average of 50.06 with 16 hundred. Warner is known for his brute hitting against the seamer and spinners.
The Southpaw is a great player of spinners. In the IPL 2016, he was one man army for Sunrisers Hyderabad as he alone won the play-off against Gujarat Lions and defeated Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore. At Indian conditions, he broke all the records as he ended with 848 runs just after Virat Kohli’s 973 runs . If Virat failed in this IPL Warner would have taken all the publicities. But , ultimately, Warner has the last laugh as he played 37 balls 69 runs innings that helped his team to post a 207 runs total in the final and won the match.
